Ten sauces, wings by the half-dozen, tenders by the three — on Ranch Road 12 since August
Wimberley has plenty of barbecue, burgers and Tex-Mex. What it didn't have was a place that just does wings. Blanco River Wing Company fixed that in August, opening in the Wimberley Commons center at 14306 Ranch Road 12 — the same strip where FM Pizza moved into its storefront earlier this year. It bills itself as "Central Texas' Best Wings," which is a big claim for a small shop, and the easiest way to settle it is to go.
The story. This is a small, local, single-focus kitchen: chicken wings and tenders, sauced to order, plus fries. The shop's own pitch is simple — fresh ingredients, recipes built around big flavor, food that brings people together. It doesn't tell an origin story or name its owners online yet, so we won't either; if you know the folks behind it, tell them we said welcome.
The vibe. It's a dine-in-or-takeout counter in a Ranch Road 12 strip center, so it's an easy stop on the way home from the Square or from Woodcreek. It solves two recurring problems: game day, and the "what do we feed the kids tonight" night. Tenders keep the picky eaters happy; wings keep everyone else happy.
What to order.
- Wings — $10 for a half dozen, $20 for a dozen, in any of ten sauces: Buffalo Hot, Thai Chili, Alabama White, Jamaican Jerk, Candied Jalapeño BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, Teriyaki, Hot Honey Peach, Mango Habanero and Maple Bourbon.
- Tenders — 3 for $8, 6 for $14, 9 for $20, 12 for $25, same ten sauces.
- Blanco River Buffalo Fries ($12) — fries under buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, ranch and green onion. Plain fries are $6.
With a group, split a dozen wings across two sauces — one with heat (Mango Habanero or Buffalo Hot) and one without (Garlic Parmesan or Hot Honey Peach) — and add tenders for the kids.
Good to know. Hours are short, so plan around them: Wednesday through Friday 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; closed Sunday through Tuesday. They do catering — birthdays, holiday parties, office lunches, weddings — call to set it up. The drink menu and specials pages are still "coming soon" on their site.
