Open daily on N FM 620, with a backyard playground and a chef out of the Culinary Institute of America

Farmand's Family Kitchen has been open in Steiner Ranch for almost a year now, and it's settled into the kind of role every family-heavy pocket of Austin wants: a place with a real bar and a real kids' menu under the same roof, so nobody has to split the difference.

The story. The restaurant is named for founder and seasoned restaurateur Tony Farmand, who has built more than 40 fast casual restaurants. It's a collaboration with expert restaurant developer Carlos Griego and Culinary Institute of America-trained Executive Chef Matthew Price, who brings over 20 years of fine dining experience. It opened in Steiner Ranch, Bldg. C on N FM 620, after a stretch of construction and buildout that stretched back to permits filed in late 2024.

The vibe. This is a family restaurant in the literal sense — a patio and outdoor playground is included at the business's new location, and locals writing it up have called it "a newer Steiner Ranch spot that was clearly designed with families in mind," with a patio and playground that make it easy for kids to stay entertained while parents settle in for elevated comfort food. It's not just a kid zone bolted onto a restaurant, either — Yelp's business description describes it as somewhere with "a custom deck, big screens, and a full bar so you can unwind while the kiddos take over the playground." Weekends bring a different crowd too, with brunch on the weekends and happy hour during the week pulling in the after-work and after-church sets alike.

What to order. The menu leans into what the newsletter promised — salads, burgers, sandwiches — but with some global detours. The Infatuation's rundown points to chimichurri steak wraps, Mediterranean mezze plates, and salads topped with cornbread croutons, plus a large menu of sundaes, smoothies, and floats for the sweet-tooth crowd. OpenTable highlights signature dishes like the Center-Cut Filet over caramelized onions and cremini mushrooms, and Signature Blend Beef Burgers, alongside craft cocktails at the bar. On the pricing side, Yelp's posted menu shows the Farmand's Steak Wrap at $28.20, Texas Dusted Wings at $21, a Chicken Caesar Wrap at $23.40, and a Greek Salad at $19.80 — so budget for a sit-down dinner rather than a quick-casual tab.

Good to know. Hours run 11am–9pm every day, with happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 5pm and brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. It takes reservations and offers take-out and delivery, and it's set up for full bar service — beer, wine, and cocktails — alongside the family-friendly menu.
