The pitmaster behind the 12th Street trailer now has a second smoker going right off Lake Travis

Good BBQ Company spent the spring and early summer hiring staff and pulling permits for a second location inside Lake Travis Biergarten near Hudson Bend. That buildout is done now — the Lake Travis outpost is open, serving the same slow-smoked brisket and pulled pork that built a following on 12th Street, but a lot closer to the lake for anyone on this side of 620.

The story. Founded by U.S. Army veteran Daniel Monplaisir, who traded military life for smoke pits to build a BBQ spot rooted in craft, community and serious regional pride. The original spot is a food trailer in East Austin that began serving diners earlier this year, with its full menu and new hours of operation launching in June. The Hudson Bend expansion was first reported as a coming-soon project while management was in the process of hiring staff for the new location and getting necessary permits, and by late summer it had become a fully running second location inside the Biergarten grounds.

The vibe. This isn't a stand-alone building — it's a trailer setup tucked into Lake Travis Biergarten's grounds on RM 620, the kind of outdoor, order-at-the-window, grab-a-picnic-table scene that fits right in with the lake crowd. The brand's own description of its original trailer captures the feel it's going for everywhere it sets up: a gathering space where "the spirit of community and the sizzle of the grill are always in the air."

What to order. The menu runs classic Central Texas with a Southern streak. The barbecue draws inspiration from various parts of the United States, including Texas and Alabama, with brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and sausage alongside cole slaw, bacon macaroni and cheese, creamed corn and baked beans. Straight off the current menu: a Brisket Sandwich ($18.75), Pulled Pork Sandwich ($13.55), a build-your-own 2 Meat Plate ($28.10) with two sides, and brisket sold by the pound ($41.45/lb) for anyone stocking up for a lake-house crowd. There's also a family-size "Bless This Mess" spread with all the meats and sides for $57.20.

Good to know. The Lake Travis location keeps its own hours separate from the East Austin trailer — check below. Good BBQ Company also does catering for parties and events, and both locations take online orders for pickup.
