🔝 TOP 3 IN 10 SECONDS

🆕 Tacodeli's Dripping Springs lease at Hwy 290 and Canyonwood Drive is still holding — no opening date yet, but it's the closest the taco favorite has come to the Hill Country.

🆕 This week's craving is a hidden gem — Ziggi's Cafe on RR 12 in Dripping Springs, the little Greek street-food counter most people drive right past.

🆕 El Confit Longleaf is still in transition on the Wimberley Square — Longleaf's current team is cooking as usual while co-chefs Sarai and Luis Feliz get the new concept ready.

🏗️ COMING SOON & NEW FILINGS

Still in the pipeline: The Forager on RR 12 is still holding at a soft "Fall 2026," Coach's Hill Country BBQ (the reopening of Kelly's old trailer) still shows "reopening soon" with no date or phone on its own site, and The Cat's Meow boba shop up the road still has no opening date. Tacodeli's Hwy 290 & Canyonwood Drive lease remains unchanged — still single-sourced, still no opening date, so it stays a status note rather than a full entry this week.

🆕 Roxie's (Dripping Springs) — A second location of the Southern comfort-food concept from Salt Lick BBQ owner Scott Roberts, named for his grandmother, is under construction at a historic Mercer Street address — think fried chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade pies and a full bar, the same menu built out at the brand's first location in Buda. A $1.9M building-addition filing covers the 7,286-square-foot historic property, and the project is still mid-construction with no opening date announced. It'll be a second Hill Country outpost for the Driftwood barbecue institution once it clears the finish line.

🆕 El Confit Longleaf (Wimberley Square) — The handoff at Longleaf Craft Kitchen + Bar is still underway: co-chefs Sarai and Luis Feliz are getting their new concept ready inside the historic building on the Square, and the current Longleaf team is still cooking the menu regulars know while the transition plays out. Neither a transition date nor an opening date for El Confit has been announced yet, so the old favorites are still the only thing on the table for now. If you've been meaning to get one more meal at Longleaf before the changeover, this is still the week.

✅ NOW OPEN (LAST 60 DAYS)

Quiet week for brand-new doors — nothing crossed into our 60-day window this week that we haven't already told you about. We're keeping an eye on Coach's Hill Country BBQ and El Confit Longleaf for the moment either one actually opens, and we'll flag the next new spot the second it surfaces.

Nada Mucho Tex-Mex Heaven (Wimberley)

Tucked along Ranch Road 12 between the Old Kyle Road and Oldham Lane curves, Nada Mucho Tex-Mex Heaven has quietly become one of Wimberley's easiest places to lose a few hours, with a long central bar, a roomy back patio and a menu that leans into both nostalgia and a little flash — think cheese enchiladas bathed in red sauce next to quesabirria tacos and a Baja fish taco. The margaritas are the draw for a lot of regulars, served frozen or on the rocks with a weekday happy hour from 3 to 6, and the white queso and fresh salsas make an easy start before the enchiladas clásicas or carne asada show up. It's the kind of place that doesn't shout about itself, which is exactly why it keeps landing on quiet "locals only" lists around the valley. Pro tip: open daily from 11am (Sun–Thu to 9, Fri–Sat to 10), with brunch Saturday and Sunday 11–1 — go on a weekday for the happy hour and skip the weekend wait.

🍷 DRINKS WATCH — NEW ON THE WINE & BEER TRAIL

Quiet week on the trail — no new winery, brewery, distillery or tasting-room filing surfaced for Dripping Springs, Driftwood or Wimberley this week. Treaty Oak Distilling remains an open question for us — the Fitzhugh Road property's own site still shows live posted hours, but third-party listings haven't caught up, so we're holding off until it's settled either way. The moment anything new pours in, you'll read it here first.

😋 THIS WEEK'S CRAVING — Hidden gem

Our weekly pick: a local favorite worth the drive.

🍽️ Ziggi's Cafe (Dripping Springs) — This is our hidden gem pick this week: a tiny Greek street-food counter on RR 12 that most people drive right past on the way to somewhere else, run by Alex and Rena Gabrielides, a Greek family by way of South Africa who've owned restaurants from London to the Bahamas. The pitas are the whole point — pork, chicken or falafel stuffed with tomato, onion and tzatziki, plus grilled souvlaki skewers and handmade savory pies wrapped in flaky phyllo — and the pastry case in front holds croissants, cakes and Greek specialties like bougatsa alongside the coffee bar their teenage son runs as head barista. It opened quietly back in August with almost no fanfare, which is exactly why it still counts as a secret. Open Tuesday–Saturday 11–9, Sunday 11–6, closed Monday.
