Eggs, bagels, salads and a full bar where the old wine-and-market shop used to be

Howdy Neighbor is open on Wimberley Square, serving breakfast and lunch out of the building that spent seven years as Dos Olivos Market before it closed for good last October. If you spent any time at the old wine bar's patio, the address will feel familiar — the menu and the mission do not.

The story. Dos Olivos Market closed its flagship Wimberley store for good on October 31 after seven years in the Texas Hill Country. Howdy Neighbor has since moved into that same building at 13904 Ranch Road 12. Co-owner Alexis Dorchester describes Howdy Neighbor as a hospitality brand built on the idea that community begins when people gather, created with partners to make a place where neighbors become friends and local businesses, artists, families and visitors share a table.

The vibe. It bills itself as breakfast, brunch, and lunch in the heart of Wimberley Square — a neighborhood spot for chef-driven eats, fresh pressed juices, craft cocktails, and good vibes, meant to be a gathering place for food, drinks, and community connections. Alongside the dining room is a small retail section carrying skincare, candles, totes and kitchen goods — a nod to the market concept the space is known for, even if the goods on the shelves have changed completely.

What to order. The menu leans breakfast-forward with a deli and salad section for lunch. Start with the Howdy, Breakfast — free range eggs, crispy potatoes, choice of thick bacon or sage sausage for $16, or the Biscuit Scramble, a house made biscuit with soft scramble and Tillamook cheddar for $13. For lunch, the Nicoise Salad with seared yellowfin, potatoes, green beans, chickpeas, radish, hard boiled eggs, artichoke hearts, tomato, olives, capers and lemon verbena dressing runs $19, and the Hill Country Club piles roasted turkey, smoked ham, bacon, Tillamook cheddar and avocado on ciabatta for $19. Don't sleep on the drink menu either — fresh-pressed options like the Green Juice and Beet Juice sit next to a full bar pouring mimosas, an espresso martini and a bloody mary.

Good to know. The spot sits in the heart of Wimberley Square, and online ordering runs through Toast for pickup. The espresso program is a whole menu of its own, with signature lattes like a lavender latte and a brown sugar umami, plus matcha and cold brew options for anyone just swinging through for coffee.
