🔝 TOP 3 IN 10 SECONDS

🆕 Cupprimo at the Lake (Lakeway) is this week's craving pick — a cupcake-and-coffee shop by the lake that's exactly what readers asked for when we put "best dessert" to a vote this week.

🆕 SAF Wine Bar & Nosh (Lakeway) is back on our radar with news of its live-music lineup and salsa nights on Lohmans Crossing — a small-bites wine bar, not a restaurant, so it lands in Drinks Watch.

🆕 Spicewood's Iron Wolf Ranch has its monthly Sip & Shop market Saturday, and the Bee Cave Farmers Market rolls on Sunday as always — a good weekend to get outside.

🏗️ COMING SOON & NEW FILINGS

🆕 CAVA (Bee Cave) — The fast-casual Mediterranean chain is headed for East Ladera Boulevard next to an upcoming Chipotle, with Bee Cave City Council granting a permit extension that pushes the construction deadline out to September 2027. Developers expect the doors to actually open in May or June of 2027, and construction itself is slated to start this month.

⏰ ETA: May or June 2027
📍 Address: 13714 East Ladera Blvd., Bee Cave, TX 78738

✅ NOW OPEN (LAST 60 DAYS)

Quiet week for brand-new doors — no new restaurant crossed into our 60-day window in Lakeway, Bee Cave, or Spicewood. The unnamed coffee truck we were watching for at the Hudson Bend food-truck park turned out to be Loverboy Coffee, already open there, not a new vendor. The next new spot to open around the lake will show up here first.

Stone House Vineyard — Spicewood

Stone House sits on the bluffs above Lake Travis on Haynie Flat Road, where owner Angela Moench — who grew up in Australia's Barossa Valley — has been pouring a split list of Texas, Australian, and California wines since the winery opened in 2006. The limestone tasting room was built block by block, each one weighing over a ton, and today Chef Kristine Kittrell runs a real kitchen behind it, with a monthly Sunday Roast that turns the vineyard into a long, lingering family table. It's the rare Spicewood tasting room that's also a destination for dinner, not just a flight of wine on the way somewhere else. Pro tip: the winery's open Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday–Wednesday), and this Sunday's Sunday Roast — "An Australian Tradition" — is the move if you want the kitchen at its best; reserve ahead, since the $30-per-person culinary program fills up.

🍷 DRINKS WATCH — NEW ON THE WINE & BEER TRAIL

🆕 SAF Wine Bar & Nosh (Lakeway) — The little wine bar in Lakeway Town Center shut down in December for a remodel and reopened in May as something more like a living room than a charcuterie counter: 35 wines by the glass, 90 by the bottle, leaning toward small-production pours from France, South Africa, Spain, Italy, Portugal, South America and the US. Owner Jon Graham, who moved to Lakeway from Maui, says the whole point was an unpretentious room where regulars turn around and welcome whoever walks in next. There's beer on tap, a patio that holds close to 150, live music most nights of the week, and Friday salsa nights twice a month.

😋 THIS WEEK'S CRAVING — SWEET TOOTH / DESSERT

When the new-opening board is quiet, we point you to a neighborhood staple worth the trip — and this week readers picked the category themselves. We asked for your favorite dessert spot around the lake, and while the votes are still trickling in, the one we keep hearing about is Cupprimo.

Cupprimo at the Lake (Lakeway) — Austin's Cupprimo has been slinging scratch-made cupcakes since 2008, and this January it opened a second home right on RM 620 South, run day to day by founder Amy Closson's team. Seven flavors are in the case every single day — red velvet, blue velvet, tuxedo, strawberry, birthday cake, double chocolate, primo vanilla — plus a rotating special, like lemon raspberry on Mondays and whiskey brownie on Fridays. It's a coffee shop as much as a bakery, with espresso, quiche, and a full drink menu alongside the cupcake case, so it works just as well for a morning stop as an afternoon treat.
