😋 This week's craving is a hidden gem: It's All Good BBQ (Spicewood), the drive-thru-friendly pit run by two decades of competition pitmasters that locals keep calling "the most underrated" barbecue on the lake.

🆕 The Bee Cave Farmers Market rolls on Sunday as always — a good weekend to get outside.

Quiet week on the filing logs — nothing new that reads as a restaurant hit the Lakeway, Bee Cave, or Spicewood records. Still in the pipeline: CAVA's planned Bee Cave location on East Ladera Boulevard has no new movement this week — still targeting May or June 2027 — and Cousin Louie's still has no address or date for the old League Kitchen & Tavern space in Lakeway. We'll flag the next new one the second it surfaces.

Quiet week for brand-new doors — no new restaurant crossed into our 60-day window in Lakeway, Bee Cave, or Spicewood this week. The next new spot to open around the lake will show up here first.

Canyon Grille — Lakeway

Perched above the Rough Hollow Yacht Club with Lake Travis spread out below the patio, Canyon Grille has been a neighborhood fixture for years, but it's a genuinely different restaurant than the one longtime regulars remember — new ownership took over in August 2024, and this spring the whole place closed for a week and came back fully reimagined as a farm-to-table kitchen pulling ingredients from Hill Country farms and the Gulf Coast. The menu runs from shishito peppers and loaded queso to crab-stuffed flounder and a Thursday-only prime rib, and Sunday brunch (11 to 2) brings out a ribeye benedict and biscuits and gravy alongside the usual lake view. It's the kind of place people drive past a hundred times without stopping, which is exactly the hidden-gem energy we love finding in a Featured Spot — and this month the kitchen launched a rotating Texas Table Series, with October's menu leaning into Hill Country German heritage (think Fredericksburg bratwurst and apple strudel). Pro tip: happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 6, with $2 off cocktails, wine by the glass, draft beer, and starters — go on a weekday and the patio is yours.

Quiet week on the wine and beer trail — no new winery, brewery, distillery, or tasting-room news surfaced for Lakeway, Bee Cave, or Spicewood this week. Highway 71 Brewing's full-bar permit is still pending with no cocktails visible on site, and 5 Soul Wine Co.'s distiller's-permit filing is still working through the state with nothing announced. We'll tell you the moment either one pours something new.

It's All Good BBQ (Spicewood) — Frankie Hoch and his best friend Dale Wieczyk spent a decade on the Texas barbecue competition circuit before finally opening a restaurant of their own in 2012, and the brisket, ribs, and chicken still carry that competition pedigree. Everything's slow-smoked daily on their own pit, the sides are scratch-made (don't skip the tater tot casserole or the potato salad), and there's a convenient drive-thru right off Highway 71 for when you don't feel like getting out of the car. It sells out some days, so call ahead if you're driving in from Lakeway or Bee Cave — this is the kind of hidden gem that's hiding in plain sight.
