🆕 Japanese comfort food just rolled into Lakeway — Bento & Blaze is now serving teriyaki, katsu, and steak bento boxes at Fetch Food Park on Hamilton Pool Road.

🆕 A Bee Cave institution is going dark, for now. Rocco's Grill served its last plate at the end of July as owners Rocky and Linda Piazza retire — but word is they're aiming to fire the ovens back up in October.

🆕 Wild Kitchen and Bar poured its last round in Bee Cave on Aug. 12. No word yet on what moves into the spot near Nitro Swim.

🆕 Cousin Louie's (Lakeway) — The crew at TC4 & Co. is turning the former League Kitchen & Tavern into a red-sauce, Italian-American joint — think big plates, old-school charm, and a neighborhood bar feel.

🆕 Bento & Blaze (Lakeway) — Fresh off the griddle at Fetch Food Park, this Japanese spot builds bento boxes around grilled teriyaki, chicken katsu, or steak with steamed rice and sides, plus a rotating cast of Japanese appetizers. A great new reason to swing by the Hamilton Pool Road trucks.

🆕 Baklava House (Lakeway) — This Austin dessert favorite brought its third location to Lakeway, and the case is a stunner: flaky baklava, cheesy-sweet knafeh, and that viral Dubai chocolate. Grab a box to go, or ship it to someone who'll be jealous you found it first.

The Vibe Tucked into the FM 2244 strip, this little French café has been the neighborhood's go-to croissant fix for years — and it still smells like a Parisian morning the second you walk in. It's the kind of place where you grab a flaky pastry and a coffee, snag a patio seat, and suddenly it's an hour later. Families, remote workers, and after-school crowds all rotate through, and somehow it never loses its calm.

Must-Order Items The almond croissant is the headliner — buttery, not-too-sweet, and worth the drive on its own. Beyond that, the crepes (sweet or savory) are a full breakfast, the quiche holds up for a proper lunch, and the pastry case of macarons and éclairs is dangerous if you're even a little hungry. Come early on weekends; the best stuff sells out.

Pro Tip Weekend mornings get busy fast, so beat the rush or call ahead for a box of pastries to go. And don't sleep on lunch — the sandwiches on house baguette are the quiet MVP of the menu.

🍷 Bella Loma Distillery & Tasting Room (Spicewood) — Spicewood's newest sipping spot trades grapes for agave: a family-owned distillery making house Blanco and Reposado, poured as margaritas, Mexican martinis, and specialty cocktails in a laid-back, pet-friendly tasting room with a big outdoor space and events like art shows and Mexican bingo. Snacks on hand, and you can bring your own food.

Rocco's Grill (Bee Cave) — After a long run on Bee Cave Road, this beloved Italian mainstay closed at the end of July as owners Rocky and Linda Piazza step into retirement. The good news: they've hinted at a comeback around October, so this may be more "see you soon" than goodbye.
