Order at the counter, watch the cooks work, and don't leave without a scoop from the gelato case
The story. Twenty years ago this March, Damian and Trina Mandola opened an Italian kitchen in the Shops at the Galleria built around a simple idea: authentic Italian recipes, Texas hospitality, and a kitchen you can watch from the counter. It's the casual side of the Mandola family's cooking — you order at the counter, the food comes out fast, and the market case by the door does double duty as a gelato counter. First-timers get a free cookie. Regulars get remembered. The Bee Cave location celebrated its 20th anniversary on March 3, 2026, which makes it one of the longest-running restaurants on the Galleria's side of the lake — a place that has watched Bee Cave grow up around it.

The vibe. Bright, loud in the good way, and built for a crowd. The open kitchen is the show, the counter line moves quickly, and the dining room handles everything from a solo lunch to a post-game table of twelve. It's the rare Galleria spot where you can walk in on a Saturday night with six people and be eating in twenty minutes.
What to order. The handmade pastas are the reason to come — the lasagna is the one people drive across the lake for. The rustic pizzas come out of the oven blistered at the edges, and the warm focaccia lands on the table first. Save room: nobody leaves without a scoop of gelato from the market case.
Good to know. Open every day, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., no reservations — which makes it the easy answer when everything else at the Galleria has a wait. Grab dessert to go from the market counter on your way out. Kids are very welcome — and the free cookie for first-timers is not a rumor.
