🔝 TOP 3 IN 10 SECONDS

🆕 Dough It Up's Leander location just got a firmer landing date: "later this fall" on Ronald Reagan Boulevard, with gelato and happy hour promised to follow.

🆕 This week's Craving is a family-table favorite that's topped Cedar Park's own rankings for years: Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill.

🆕 Liberty Hill's new Whataburger flipped its sign on Hwy. 29 Monday — 73 local jobs and a 24-hour drive-thru now on the map.

🏗️ COMING SOON & NEW FILINGS

🆕 Dough It Up (Leander) — MAJOR UPDATE: the Cedar Park Italian spot's Leander expansion now has a firmer runway. Owner Mimoza Hajmeli just marked her Cypress Creek location's first anniversary and confirmed the Ronald Reagan Boulevard spot is coming "later this fall," with gelato, happy hour and catering planned on top of the scratch pastas and brick-oven pizza. The build-out has been on file since September.

⏰ ETA: Later this fall 2026

🆕 Chipotle Mexican Grill (Cedar Park) — the chain's second Cedar Park location is set to open Oct. 21 with a drive-thru at Cypress Creek Road and Juliette Way, a few miles from the existing E. Whitestone store. The company says it's bringing its new high-protein menu additions to the new spot and is currently hiring. It's not a first-to-market opening for the chain locally, but it's a second access point on the Cypress Creek side of town.

⏰ ETA: October 21, 2026
📍 Address: 1521 Juliette Way, Cedar Park, TX 78613

🆕 Kilwins (Cedar Park) — MAJOR UPDATE: the chocolate, fudge and ice cream shop we first told you about on Oct. 1 now has an address and a timeline. It's going into Building A at 901 Arrow Point Dr., with construction set to wrap in May 2027 — so plan this one as a next-summer waffle-cone trip rather than a this-fall one. We'll share the opening date as soon as Kilwins posts it.

⏰ ETA: May 2027 (construction completion)
📍 Address: 901 Arrow Point Dr., Bldg. A, Ste. 102, Cedar Park, TX 78613

📞 Phone: TBD

On the radar: the two state filings at 208–210 N. Brushy St. in Old Town Leander — a two-story restaurant and bar ($2.7 million) and a café-speakeasy next door ($1.5 million) — are still moving through construction permitting with no operator named yet; same for Lemberg Roastery & Bakery at The Square at Crystal Falls, whose build-out is now permitted to run Oct. 19 through mid-December.

The Abuelos Kitchen (Leander)

Grandparents Maria Camarena and Rudy Cordero run their Mexican kitchen out of an unlikely spot — inside the Valero gas station near Palmera Ridge — but the quesabirria, flautas and breakfast tacos have turned commuters along Ronald Reagan Boulevard into regulars. The menu stretches well past gas-station fare, with burgers, burritos, tortas and beer and wine on tap to go with the brisket birria plate everyone talks about. Breakfast starts at 6 a.m., well before most sit-down spots unlock their doors, and Cordero has a patio expansion in mind for down the road. Pro tip: open Monday–Saturday 6 a.m.–8 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m.–3 p.m. — swing by early for the chilaquiles before the morning rush hits.

🍷 DRINKS WATCH — NEW ON THE BEER & SPIRITS TRAIL

Nothing new on the trail this week. San Gabriel River Brewery's Liberty Hill Oktoberfest lands Saturday (see events below), and Pinthouse's New Hope Drive brewpub is still tracking toward the second half of 2027.

😋 THIS WEEK'S CRAVING — FAMILY RESTAURANT

This week: Family restaurant

🍽️ Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill (Cedar Park) — Ranked the #1 restaurant in Cedar Park on Tripadvisor, this Village at Cedar Park spot has been the place where the whole table actually agrees for years running. The farm-to-table kitchen buys from the Cedar Park Farmers Market when it can, and the menu stretches from tinga chicken nachos and blue crab stuffed chicken to a Texas-sized brunch with chicken and waffles and jalapeño cheddar biscuits and gravy. There's a gluten-free menu for the picky eaters and a kids-friendly reputation that's kept it busy since it opened. No reader picks came in for this week's family-restaurant question, so we went with the spot that keeps topping the "best of" lists.
