Sarah and Dallas Miller reopened the Beverly Drive market this summer, pizza, pasta and all

The big white barn on the hill off 290 went dark this summer, and a lot of us figured that was that. It wasn't. Dripping Springs couple Sarah and Dallas Miller took over the lease and have been bringing Oakwood Public Market back to life in stages since August, and as of now the coffee shop, pizza kitchen and bar and restaurant are all open, with the soda shop close behind.
The story. Oakwood opened in 2025 as a glossy food-and-retail market, then closed in early July after the business cited "numerous challenges" including staffing constraints, leadership turnover and rising costs. The Millers, who live in the Headwaters neighborhood and are regulars at the market, are hospitality veterans who moved to Dripping Springs a few years back and took the closure as a sign to step in. They took over the lease from developer Oryx Development, which remains the landlord, and reopened in stages, with the coffee shop coming back first and the rest following about a week later. Dallas Miller isn't new to restaurants — he grew up around The County Line, run by his uncle Don "Skeeter" Miller.
The vibe. It's still the same hilltop barn with the sunset views and the walkways between stalls, just aimed more at everyday use than special occasions. The once-upscale market is leaning into being more of a neighborhood convenience stop, with basics like milk, cereal, paper plates and ice. The old event room is now an arcade with Pac-Man, claw machines and tap-to-play games — a nod to how close the elementary school is. And tucked inside the coffee shop is the Jackalope Room, which turns into a 21-and-up speakeasy on Friday and Saturday nights with cocktails and small bites.
What to order. The pizza kitchen is back doing 16-inch "Neo-Neapolitan" pies — The Cheese ($16), The Standard with pepperoni and Parmesan ($18), and The Oakwood, a house pie loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted mushrooms and onions ($20). If you want heat, there's the Sweet Heat pie with whipped ricotta, calabrian chiles and hot honey ($20). From the sub counter, the Italian Sub (ham, capicola, soppressata, provolone, $15) and the Meatball Sub ($15) both hold up as a grab-and-go lunch. Over at the bar and restaurant, the new menu mixes American, Italian and Tex-Mex dishes under a chef who came over from Black Sheep Lodge.
Good to know. Hours differ by counter: the coffee shop runs mornings only, while pizza, the bar and restaurant keep later hours into the evening — check the site before you go, since things are still settling into a rhythm. Pizza and subs are pickup-only through the online order page. The soda shop was still finishing up as of early fall, so call ahead if ice cream is the whole plan.
