A wood-fired Neapolitan pizzeria crossed with a gastropub and a sports bar — where nobody minds if the kids (or the dog) run the yard
The story. The Bull Pizza Co is the payoff of one man's obsession. Owner Dave Fernandez dialed in his dough and sauce "after years of obsessive pizza research from New York City to Kailua, Hawaii," then opened The Bull on North Quinlan Park Road as the kind of place Steiner Ranch didn't quite have yet: a genuine wood-fired Neapolitan pizzeria that's also a full gastropub and a family-friendly sports bar. As the restaurant puts it, "this is not a pizza chain, this is not a stuffy restaurant" — it's where the food is serious, the drinks are dialed, and nobody cares if your kids are running around the yard.
The vibe. It flexes to the occasion. There are multiple TVs and a proper bar for game day, a covered patio and an outdoor playground for family night, and a pet-friendly setup so the dog comes too. The pizzas fire in a wood oven at 700°F for about 90 seconds, so the kitchen moves fast even when the dining room is full — and the bar program (eight craft cocktails, fourteen wines, eight drafts) means the grown-ups are just as looked-after as the kids.
What to order. Start with the wood-fired Neapolitan pies — the Fig & Prosciutto and the BBQ Chicken are the standouts — then work into the gastropub side: the double Kobe smashburger, the honey-Dijon salmon, the ribeye, and the gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp) that's a little nod to Fernandez's obsessive-research years. A fresh salad rounds it out if you're splitting a table.
Good to know. The Bull is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner; the Pizza Pit runs until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with the bar going until midnight. It's genuinely built for families — playground, covered seating, pet-friendly patio — and it's an easy reservation if you're rolling in with a group for a game.
