The Cat's Meow Boba Bar and Tea House

Wimberley is getting a boba shop. The Cat's Meow Boba Bar and Tea House is being built out in Suite 3 at 15572 Ranch Road 12. When it opens, you won't have to drive to San Marcos or Austin for a milk tea with tapioca pearls. The doors aren't open yet, and there's no date.

What's coming. Boba is the headliner, but the menu goes past it. The shop's announced lineup has milk teas, herbal and loose-leaf teas, flavored Texas black teas, smoothies, smashed lemonades and small tea-time snacks. They've also been working on dirty sodas, and the team was running taste tests on those in September. The owners say they want to use Texas-made products where they can. They call it a "one stop shop for anything delicious."

Where and when. The shop is at 15572 Ranch Road 12, Suite 3, on the main road through Wimberley. As of mid-September the build-out was still in the plumbing, floor-drain and framing stage, so it's still a construction site. The shop has said it plans to hold small tasting events with reservations before it opens to the public. That will probably be the first chance to try the drinks.

Who's behind it. It's locally owned and operated. The owners haven't been named publicly, so we won't guess.

What we don't know yet. There's no opening date, hours, phone number or full menu with prices yet. For now, the shop's Facebook page is the best place to see construction updates and tasting dates as they're announced.
