A pending TABC filing would add beer and wine service to the Hero Way spot that opened back in March

Zeytun Mediterranean Grill has been grilling koobideh and ladling tzatziki on Hero Way since the spring, and now it looks ready to add something new to the table: alcohol. Pending TABC paperwork shows the restaurant applying for a food-and-beverage certificate along with beer and wine service — the kind of filing that usually means a glass of wine with dinner is coming, not a new storefront.

What's coming. Public TABC filings dated September 28, 2026 show an application for a food-and-beverage certificate plus beer and wine permits tied to the Hero Way address. That's the paperwork restaurants file when they want to start serving beer and wine alongside the food they already make — no indication this is a different concept or a relocation, just the existing restaurant rounding out its drink options.

Where and when. The restaurant itself is already open and running normal hours at 11880 Hero Way W, Ste. 201 in Leander. It officially opened March 24, with owner Arash Soofiani describing it as "a Persian, Italian and Mediterranean grill concept built on family tradition, cultural heritage and a passion for fresh, high-quality food." TABC applications can take weeks to clear, so there's no confirmed date yet for when beer and wine will actually show up on the table — we'll update once the permit is active.

Who's behind it. Owner Arash Soofiani has described the restaurant as a family business built around Persian, Italian and Mediterranean cooking traditions. The kitchen is led by Chef Roberto, who brings over 40 years of culinary experience to the menu.

What we don't know yet. The filing doesn't say when TABC will approve it, and pending applications don't always clear on the owner's preferred timeline. It's also not clear whether the eventual drink list will lean into a few Persian and Mediterranean-friendly picks or go broader. We'll check back once the certificate is active and update this post.

In the meantime, the food side of the house is well worth the trip. The restaurant offers a variety of halal dishes, including gyros, kabobs and pasta, and unique drinks like the Zeytun Special and Doogh round out the current menu, non-alcoholic for now.
